UNIUYO Produce 32 First Class Graduates In 24th Convocation

The authorities of University of Uyo (UNIUYO), as part of activities of the 24th convocation ceremony has revealed that 32 students bagged first class degree in various disciplines.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Enefiok Essien (SAN) revealed that certificates, diplomas, first degrees master degrees, and doctoral degrees were awarded to graduands who have been adjudged to be suitable in learning and character.

The breakdown of the awarded graduands are as follow:

  • Postgraduate; PhD – 72.
  • Masters degree – 332.
  • Postgraduate Diploma – 227.
  • Undergraduate:
    • First Class – 32.
    • Second Class Upper – 951.
    • Second Class Lower – 1,951.
    • Third Class – 612.
    • Pass – 132.
  • Sub-degrees:
    • Certificates – 19.
    • Diplomas – 211.

Total – 4,539.


In addition to the above categories, Senate of the University of Uyo also approved posthumous conferment of the honorary degree of Doctor of Medicine on a prominent Irish Lady, late Sr/Dr. Ann Ward, who devoted 50 years of her life to saving lives in the Southern part of Nigeria. The Irish ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Sean Hoy received the award on her behalf.

In attendance at the 24th convocation ceremony of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) were Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State, The deputy governor, Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor, Members of the University Governing Council, Visiting Vice Chancellors, Former Vice Chancellors, Graduands, Parents, and Host Communities.
